The house is in the middle of a village with car access only to the ends. The carpark at the northeast end is about 500m away. With a small car, you can drive in to a small square part-way along the high street. While the road at the southwest is only about 200m from the house, it is a steep climb up to the house, and a part of the road is stepped. It is possible to drive all the way to the front door along the narrow and hilly main street (with a narrow vehicle) in order to deliver heavy objects, but walk it first to be sure you are happy about reversing back out between stone houe walls.

The house is on three floors. The marble stairs have iron railings, but there are no infant-proof gates. In winter, heating is by wood-burning fire and stove. These are potential hazards for toddlers used to central heating.
