Although the house is of ancient construction, it must have fallen into disrepair, and was restored some time in the 1960s. The ancient walls are over 50cm thick, but the floors are of modern construction. This gives the house better separation between the floors than most of the old Garfagnana houses.

The spacious sitting room is the hub of the house. The stair from the upper bedrooms arrives here, and it is directly above the kitchen. Like the kitchen, it has a generous balcony overlooking the Suricchiana valley. There is a television for those who have done enough sightseeing and activities and finished their book already.

The kitchen contains a new gas oven and hob as well as the traditional wood-burning oven. The floor is tiled and so is easy to keep clean. Off the kitchen is a spacious balcony – my favourite breakfast spot. There is a fridge, a small washing machine, and the kitchen is equipped with a full set of cooking pots. There is also a fireplace in which you can burn a cosy wood fire.

The photo on the left shows a segment of the view from the balcony, which in reality is a wide panorama that doesn't fit my camera.

The round table seats 6 and is extendable if needed. Cutlery and crockery are provided. There is a filter coffee maker, and a toaster.

The bedrooms are spacious and airy. Two have double beds and one has twin beds. Each is equipped with wardrobe, drawers, bedside tables. Bedroom 2 can also be arranged with a child's bed in addition to the double bed.

The sofa in the livingroom is also convertable to a double bed. It is rather an antique, so we generally avoid using it, but ask if it may help your arrangements.
